Centaurium umbellatum / Centaury
PLANT DESCRIPTION
Centaury is an annual that reaches a height of 30 cm. It belongs to the gentian family. The leaves reach a length of about 4 cm with a maximum breadth of 2 cm. Underneath they form a leaf rosette; the pink blossoms, about 8 mm in size, are organized into a loose, flat, spread-out cyme. They are found in grasslands in dry, sandy soil. They bloom from June to August, but only on very clear, sunny days. Centaury contains many bitter substances, and that is why it is also known popularly as bitter herb.
PREPARATION: sun method
MOOD GROUP: Over-sensitivity
NEGATIVE CONDITION
Weak-willed and easily influenced. These people can only say "no" with great difficulty and are sometimes simply bossed around by others. Even though they are dissatisfied with this state of things, they will try anxiously to avoid a confrontation.
-
Centaury personalities are very loveable, mild-mannered and considerate people that because of their good will and helpfulness are well loved.
-
The basis for these ideal character traits is the desire to be loved and recognised.
-
They are afraid of authority figures and stronger personalities and allow themselves to be ordered around by them. They are very unassuming and are quick to give things up and to deny themselves.
-
They considered the wishes of others to be more important than their own.
-
Centaury personalities have a great need for harmony.
-
As children, Centaury personalities are shy, sensitive and anxious. They always want to be "good" and expect praise for it.
POSITIVE POTENTIAL
Centaury strengthens feelings of self-esteem and gives the power to say "no" now and then. One helps others gladlly and undemonstratively, but doesn't allow oneself to be exploited. One's own personality is developed and solidified, and one can express one's own ideas more readily. The opinions of others are no longer given as much weight. One can also apply oneself to the interests of the group without giving in too much, and one respects one's own individuality and challenges in life.
BACH QUOTE
"For those friendly, calm, gentle people who are overly anxious to serve others. In their efforts, they overestimate their power. They identify themselves so much with their industrious striving that they become more slaves than willing helpers. Their good nature leads them to do more than their share, and by so doing their own life goals can be neglected.“
