Quercus robur / Oak
PLANT DESCRIPTION
The oak is a large, powerful tree that was honored by our forefathers as sacred. It grows primarily in forests, in meadows and in groves. The red female blossoms and the male catkins are found on the same tree. It blossoms from the end of April to the beginning of May.
PREPARATION: sun method
MOOD GROUP: Despondency and despair
NEGATIVE CONDITION
These people are usually strong and dependable, but sometimes suffer from exhaustion. However, their strong sense of duty drives them to keep toiling (ignoring their symptoms). The loss of inner strength can lead to stress symptoms and frustration.
-
In negative condition the otherwise strong-willed Oak personalities, who gladly take on difficult challenges and tasks, are obstinate and rigid. Once they get something into their heads, they can no longer let go of it.
-
They see problems as a personal challenge. In this they are dogged and pigheaded and won't give up, even when there is no prospect of success, when the goal has become meaningless or when they are swamped. They are incapable of admitting to themselves that they have taken on too much or that they have made a mistake.
-
In this situation it can happen that it's no longer a question of the actual goal but rather of winning.
-
They often suffer from overwork and long-term stress; however, one never hears them complain.
-
Illness is sometimes seen as failure, so they concentrate hard on recovering.
-
Oak personalities often carry other people's burdens on their shoulders.
-
They are incapable of perceiving when it would be better to give up.
-
They do not like asking others for help, and they don't admit their weaknesses to themselves very readily.
POSITIVE POTENTIAL
This is seen above all in patient people who are strong and often seen as the hub in their families and at work. They have incredible stamina and great reserves of energy that allow them to withstand heavy burdens and a lot of stress. Oak helps one to recognise that it is important to relax from time to time and to tend to one's own needs - despite one's great sense of duty.
BACH QUOTE
"For those who exert themselves and try hard to recover from illness and who fight hard in their daily lives as well. They will keep trying one thing after the other, even when their case seems hopeless. They fight on. They are not satisfied with themselves if illnesses keep them from fulfilling their duties or from helping others. They are courageous people who can battle great difficulties without their efforts or their hopes flagging.“
