Carpinus betalus / Hornbeam

PLANT DESCRIPTION

At first glance, the hornbeam looks a bit like the copper beech, but it is smaller and greener, and it grows primarily in forests. The tree can reach a height of 25 m and has pale silver-grey bark. The female and male blossoms have different shapes but are found on the same tree. It is in flower from April through May.
